A Cave Springs Family Session Full Of Smiles

This sweet family booked their session with me during their brief stop in Northwest Arkansas—right before making another big move to Houston, Texas. Originally from California, they wanted to document their family during this transitional season of life and capture some of that Arkansas summer glow before it was in their rearview mirror.

As always, I completely respect when clients prefer to keep their images offline, so while I won’t be sharing photos of their adorable twin two-year-olds here, I have to say—they were little rays of sunshine with big smiles!

This session took place in the woods and lakeside in Cave Springs, which gave us the best of both worlds—lush greenery and glowy golden light. The family mentioned on their questionnaire that their favorite thing to do together is “be in nature,” so this spot couldn’t have been more perfect.

One thing that really stood out to me about this session was their easygoing, go-with-the-flow attitude. They had previously had a less-than-ideal experience with another photographer (and yikes—they were even delivered the wrong gallery!). Understandably, they came into this session with a bit of hesitation. So it meant the world to me that they trusted me to give them a positive, professional experience.

Like any toddler, parents know, you have to roll with it when the little ones don’t want to follow a script. During the family session, the twins had their own ideas of how things should go (as toddlers do), and I was so grateful for how calm and understanding their parents were. We tried funny noises (duck calls were a big hit!), explored the grass, let the girls lead a bit—and that’s when the magic started to happen.

They told me afterward how much they appreciated that I didn’t force the girls to pose or smile on command. Instead, I focused on making the experience fun, light, and child-led, which is always the best approach for little ones. That mix of posed and candid, genuine moments is what I love most—capturing families as they are, not just how they think they should look in front of the camera.

And can we talk about their wardrobe?! They chose the perfect summer palette—soft yellows, creams, and beiges that glowed beautifully against the green backdrop and sunset sky. Thoughtful styling like this always elevates a session and makes those final images even more timeless.

While this family may not be putting down roots here in NWA for long, I’m so glad they chose to capture this chapter before their next big adventure. Whether you’ve just moved to the area, are about to move, or simply want to freeze time for a moment in your busy family life—I’m here to help you do just that.

If you’ve had a bad experience before, or if you’re nervous about how your kids might do during a session, don’t let that stop you. I promise to meet you with patience, creativity, and a whole bag of toddler tricks. 😉

Let’s create something beautiful together.
