One-Year Milestone Session
There’s something so special about a one-year milestone birthday session—it’s not just about a cake and a few pictures, it’s about celebrating a whole year of love, growth, and milestones. For Shay and Jerad, this session was extra meaningful because it marked their miracle baby, Bellamy, turning one.
Shay wanted something simple and elegant
, so we kept the session on a clean white backdrop that allowed Bellamy’s sweet personality to shine. We went through my normal milestone workflow: a few portraits with props, some cake smash fun, and then finishing with a splash bath.
At first, Bellamy was a little shy in the studio—she’s a quiet observer, soaking in everything around her. But in between her thoughtful stares, she opened up for some of the cutest smiles. That’s one of my favorite things about photographing one-year-olds—you never know if you’ll get giggles, cake-covered grins, or serious expressions, but every moment is perfectly them.
When it came time for the cake, Bellamy lived up to her mom’s prediction. She was curious, adventurous, and happy to make a little mess. From there, we moved to the splash bath, and this is where her personality really lit up. The bubbles were her favorite, and she gave us one of the best pictures ever—a perfect mix of joy and childhood wonder.
For Shay, her vision was clear, and I wanted to do everything I could to capture it exactly as she imagined. These photos weren’t just about documenting a birthday; they were about celebrating a little girl who has brought so much love and joy into her family’s life.
