The Hewitt Family | A Story Written in Photographs

Some families hold a special place in my heart, and the Hewitts are one of them. I still remember when I first met them—when sweet little Fynlee was still growing in her momma’s belly. That first maternity session feels like it was just yesterday, yet here we are years later, capturing their story one chapter at a time.

Yearly Family Photographs

Every year, they make it a priority to step in front of the camera together. And every year, I’m reminded why family sessions matter so much. Watching their girls grow—from those very first milestones to now twirling in matching blue dresses—has been such a gift. These photos are not just pictures; they’re pieces of a legacy being written right in front of us.

This year, the Hewitts decided to use my Black Friday special: one family session and one mini session for the year. For their family session, they chose Elm Springs, near the creek at a little park that feels almost magical when the trees frame the water just right. The skies were overcast that evening, which gave us the softest light, wrapping the family in a glow that felt calm and timeless.

The girls ran hand-in-hand through the grass, laughed their way through a game of ring-around-the-rosie with their mom, and snuck those quick sisterly glances that only siblings share. Between the giggles and twirls, there were quiet moments too—mom’s hand brushing back her daughter’s hair, dad watching with pride, and the whole family wrapping into each other like home.

Those are the moments that take my breath away. The kind of moments that years from now, when the girls are grown, will remind them of how deeply loved they’ve always been.

And the best part is—I get to see them again later this year for my holiday minis. That’s the beauty of committing to these sessions year after year: you’re not just booking a date on the calendar. You’re building a collection of memories that tell your family’s story in a way nothing else can.

Hewitt family, thank you for trusting me to hold onto your memories all these years. Watching your story unfold has been one of the greatest joys of my work.

If you’ve been thinking about family portraits but keep pushing them off, let this be your sign: do it. Don’t wait for the “perfect” time, because these days—these giggles, these hand-holds, these twirls in the grass—are the perfect time.
