Henry’s Fresh 48 Session – NWA Washington Regional

Fresh 48 sessions are some of my absolute favorites because they capture the very first days of your baby’s life — the ones that are often a blur of exhaustion, emotions, and adjusting to a brand-new chapter. Henry’s story was no exception.

Jessica and her husband went into the hospital to be induced when Henry was a week past his due date. They were ready to meet their baby, but labor didn’t go quite as planned. After hours of contractions and pushing, Jessica’s body just wasn’t able to get him out on her own. She ended up with a c-section — and if you’ve ever been through both an induction and a c-section, you know that’s one of the hardest recoveries a mom can face. It takes strength, resilience, and a whole lot of love to make it through.

When I came to the hospital for Henry’s Fresh 48 session, his parents were understandably exhausted. They even told me that if we needed to, we could just skip it. I offered to do the session with Henry only so they could rest, but they insisted on being included in a few images. And I’m so glad they did.

These photographs aren’t about being picture-perfect — they’re about capturing the real, raw beauty of those first days. The way Jessica held Henry close, the way Dad leaned in with tired but proud eyes, the way Henry fit so tiny and perfectly in their arms. You can feel the love in every frame, and I know that years from now, these will be the images they treasure most.
Fresh 48 sessions are such a gift because babies change so quickly. That little hospital bassinet, the soft newborn hair, the tiny wrinkled hands — it all feels like it lasts forever in the moment, but in reality, it fades faster than we realize.
