Family Studio Session on Gray Backdrop
You know those people who leave a lasting impact on your family? That’s exactly who Mrs. Beshears was for us. She was my son’s first-grade teacher—kind, patient, and genuinely wonderful with him, quirks and all. It’s not every day you come across someone who pours so much love and understanding into your child, so at the end of the school year, I knew I had to do something special. I gifted her a family photo session as a small thank you for the big heart she showed my kiddo.
Fast forward to session day—and let me tell you, it was a good one.
The Beshears family showed up looking picture-perfect (pun intended). Mom chose a light gray studio backdrop, and their outfits had the most gorgeous pops of blue. It was classic, clean, and honestly just made the images shine.
Now let’s talk about the kiddos. They brought the full range of personality to the studio—and I loved every second. Big brother (14) was calm, sweet, and a little on the quiet side. You could just feel his gentle energy the moment he stepped in front of the camera. Then there was little sister (2), who was the definition of a toddler tornado in the best way possible. She kept us all on our toes—climbing, running, giggling, and doing exactly what toddlers are meant to do.
I pulled out all the stops for her. Toys? Check. Squeaky toys? Yep. Climbing props, jelly beans, silly games? Absolutely. We danced, played, and followed her lead. And you know what? That’s exactly what works at this age. Two-year-olds are in that magical (and sometimes wild) stage of discovering boundaries and testing the world around them. Sessions with littles like this are all about flexibility, patience, and going with the flow—and that’s something I’ve learned to embrace wholeheartedly.
Despite the whirlwind energy, we captured so many sweet and real moments—laughs, snuggles, the sibling connection, and that unmistakable glow of a family who truly loves each other.
This session wasn’t just about creating beautiful portraits (though we got those too!). It was about honoring a mom who showed up for my son every single day, and giving her family something they can look back on with joy for years to come.
