Twin Maternity Photography Session
There is something so special about documenting a twin pregnancy. It carries this quiet kind of strength. Your body is doing double the work, your heart is preparing for two tiny humans at once, and somehow in the middle of all of that, there is still beauty to be found in the waiting.
Katie came into the studio for her twin maternity photography session while expecting twins, and from the second she walked in, she had the calmest energy. Truly one of the most relaxed clients I’ve ever photographed. So relaxed, in fact, that I spent half the session wondering if she was actually enjoying herself. 😂
Thankfully, both Katie and her fiancé reassured me multiple times that she was having a great time. Katie described herself as having “the personality of an accountant,” and honestly, that explanation made me laugh because it fit her perfectly. She was calm, collected, laid back, and just quietly taking everything in throughout the session.
One of my favorite things from her questionnaire was when she said she was looking forward to “documenting feeling beautiful during pregnancy.” And honestly? She absolutely did.
Katie came into the session completely open-minded. No Pinterest board. No strict vision. No giant list of must-have poses. She simply told me to guide her, and I love sessions like that because it allows us to create naturally and focus on what feels the most authentic.
For her wardrobe, she chose a very relaxed and minimal style. We used the CK sports bras paired with simple styling, along with a fitted black dress that photographed beautifully against the studio setup. The simplicity worked so well for her twin maternity session because it kept the focus exactly where it belonged: on her connection with her babies and her fiancé.
And let me just say, she absolutely rocked every single look.
Even though Katie photographed beautifully on her own, you could immediately tell she felt the most comfortable when her fiancé stepped into the frame with her. The energy shifted in the sweetest way. She relaxed even more, leaned into him naturally, and those moments ended up being some of my favorites from the entire session.
There is something incredibly meaningful about including your partner in maternity portraits. Years from now, these images will not just remind them of what this season looked like, but what it felt like. The anticipation. The closeness. The excitement before life changes forever in the very best way.
Another thing that stood out to me from Katie’s questionnaire was how she described their family in three simple words: “Full of love.” Honestly, that perfectly described the atmosphere during the session. Nothing felt forced. Nothing felt overly posed. It was just peaceful, connected, and full of excitement for the twins they’re about to meet.
She also shared that photography is important to her because she wants “frozen moments to look back on.” I think that is exactly why maternity photography matters so much. Pregnancy can feel long while you’re in it, especially with twins, but somehow, once babies arrive, it suddenly feels incredibly short too. Your body changes again, life gets busy, and these quiet moments before birth become memories faster than anyone expects.
That’s why I love documenting this stage for families.
Not for perfection.
Not for social media.
But for the feeling attached to the images years later.
The way your fiancé looked at you.
The way you held your belly without even thinking about it.
The excitement of knowing your babies would soon be in your arms.
Katie’s session was proof that maternity sessions do not have to be extravagant to be meaningful. Sometimes the most powerful images come from slowing down, keeping things simple, and allowing genuine connection to take center stage.
I cannot wait to see these two babies earth side soon. They are already entering a family that is clearly overflowing with love, and that was obvious from the moment Katie and her fiancé walked into the studio.
If you are currently expecting and thinking about scheduling a twin maternity photography session, this is your reminder that you do not have to know exactly what you want before coming in. You do not have to be “good at photos.” You do not have to wear giant gowns or know how to pose.
You just have to show up.
I’ll help with the rest. 🤍
