Mylie Jane’s Heirloom Session — Sweet, Southern, and Full of Personality

There is something so timeless and special about heirloom portraits. Maybe it’s the simplicity. Maybe it’s the way they freeze a little one exactly as they are in that moment. Or maybe it’s because every classic Southern momma knows these portraits become the ones you pass down through generations.

For Mylie Jane, her heirloom photography session was everything her mom hoped for — classic, sweet, expressive, and packed with her precious three-year-old personality.

Meet Mylie Jane — the cutest little squirrel girl you’ll ever meet

If you’ve never met a “squirrel kinda girl,” let me tell you… They are FUN. They’re curious, random, unpredictable in the best ways, and full of the quirkiest expressions.

Mylie came into the studio with her pink dress, her soft curls, and the biggest personality tucked right behind those big brown eyes. Her mom described her as silly, girly, and loving — and that is exactly who she was from the moment she stepped in front of the camera.

Knock-knock jokes, belly laughs, and expressions for DAYS

According to Mylie’s mom, the secret to her best smile is simple: knock-knock jokes. And she was absolutely right. One knock-knock joke later, Mylie was giving me every expression under the sun — sweet smiles, soft giggles, that playful little tongue-out moment, and even the occasional wide-eyed, surprised face that only a three-year-old can pull off.

Every single image reminded me why I adore heirloom sessions so much. These portraits don’t just show what your child looks like. They show who they are. Their quirks. Their joy. Their spirit.

Classic, simple, and meant to be displayed

Mylie’s mom requested a white background for a timeless, traditional heirloom look — the kind every Southern mom loves to hang in the living room. With a mix of full body, quarter body, profile, and close-ups, her final gallery had variety while staying perfectly classic.

And knowing these will be displayed in their living room makes my photographer’s heart so happy. These are the portraits grandparents gush over, the ones that become part of your home, and eventually part of your child’s story.

Why heirloom portraits matter

Kids grow fast. Personalities shift. Expressions change. But these portraits? They freeze the little things you want to remember forever — the curls, the baby teeth, the mischievous grin, the softness in their eyes.

This is why heirloom photography sessions like Mylie’s are so important. They honor childhood in the sweetest, most timeless way.
