There are some sessions where everything just lines up perfectly — the weather, the location, the colors, the energy — and the Ramer family session at JB Hunt Park was exactly that.

When Anna first reached out, she described their family as relaxed, close, and playful. And the moment they stepped out into the crisp fall air, surrounded by trees glowing the brightest shade of orange, that’s exactly what I saw. JB Hunt Park was basically showing off for us. The leaves were scattered across the ground like confetti, the sun was warm but soft, and the breeze had just enough chill to feel like fall without turning noses pink.

Barrett, their sweet six-year-old, started the session with a little shyness tucked behind his smile. Totally normal, especially for kids his age. But it didn’t take long — and I mean not long at all — before he was confidently showing off cartwheels, flips, and his best jiu-jitsu moves. One second, he was holding mom’s hand, the next he was mid-air doing what can only be described as “peak six-year-old energy.” And honestly? Those are some of my favorite moments to capture. The real smiles. The goofy poses. The spark that makes each child who they are.

Anna and Scott had such an easy, natural way of interacting with Barrett. Whether they were walking together, snuggling close, or helping him practice a cool new move, they were completely tuned into him — and it showed in every single frame. Their love isn’t loud. It’s steady. Warm. Soft around the edges in the best way.

They also shared ahead of time that they love both posed photos and candid moments — which makes my heart so happy because that blend gives families the perfect storytelling gallery. We made sure to get those classic portraits for their home, and then we let Barrett lead the way into the fun, personality-packed shots that truly feel like him.

The Ramers wanted wall portraits from their session, so we focused on a mix of smiling poses and natural moments that will look beautiful in larger prints. And with the fall trees glowing behind them? Chef’s kiss. This session is made for walls.

As we wrapped up, Barrett gave me one last “check out this move!” moment, and it was the perfect ending to a warm, joy-filled evening.

Anna, Scott, and Barrett — thank you for trusting me with your family memories. It was such an honor getting to freeze these moments for you, especially on a day when Arkansas fall decided to be on its best behavior.

And if you’re reading this and thinking, “Okay… maybe it’s time for our family photos,” this is your sign. Kids don’t stay little. Seasons change. And photos are the closest thing we get to stopping time.
