A Mommy & Me Session in Cave Springs Packed Full Of Memories
There’s something so special about documenting motherhood in the little in-between moments esp. at a mommy & me session—moments where smiles come easily, laughter is loud, and memories are made with a splash of paint. Olivia reached out because she wanted to do a painting session with her daughter, Minnie, while she was still young enough to find it magical and fun. And let me tell you, this session was pure magic.
We chose a location in Cave Springs, and it turned out to be absolutely perfect. Olivia brought along white sheets to protect the ground, and I styled the backdrop with my lace curtains to bring in that timeless, delicate touch. Together, it created a space that was whimsical, cozy, and ready for play.
From the moment we started, Minnie’s giggles filled the air. The lighting was soft and golden, which made every brushstroke and every paint-splattered hug look like art in itself. There were plenty of smiles, lots of laughter, and more than a few paint fights. At one point, I even had to remind Minnie not to toss paint my way—we can’t risk the camera equipment! But that mischievous sparkle in her eye made for some of my favorite captures.
Even though the session was just 30 minutes, we packed it full of memories. I ended up taking over 700 images (yes, you read that right!). Their proofing gallery was a little over 60 images, and somehow Olivia managed to narrow it down to her top 20 favorites. I’ll be honest, I didn’t think she’d be able to do it—the images were just that good.
This session was such a sweet reminder that portraits don’t always have to be posed or perfect. Sometimes the best images come when we’re messy, playful, and just being ourselves. Olivia and Minnie will always have these photos to look back on, remembering a season filled with creativity, connection, and joy.
